    Boston University Center
for English Language and Orientation Programs

Boston University’s Center for English Language and Orientation Programs (BU CELOP) is the English language program at BU, the #37 nationally ranked university in the U.S. CELOP offers students the opportunity to improve their English for the purpose of admission to a college or university of their choice. We offer Intensive English every semester (fall, spring, and summer) at 20 or 25 hours per week. Intensive English includes instruction in reading, writing, listening, and speaking and a choice of elective courses which include TOEFL preparation, SAT preparation, Academic Writing, and many more. Students at CELOP receive a BU ID card and have access to all campus facilities including on campus housing, meal plans, and access to BU student activities, libraries, and the Fitness and Recreation Center.

CELOP is not a pathway to an undergraduate or graduate program at BU. Instead, our programs include free university admissions advising to help students select institutions, complete applications, and write an effective application essay. Additionally, completing a CELOP course lets students waive the TOEFL requirement at many Boston area colleges and universities. We invite you to apply to BU CELOP and choose the highest quality English language instruction and university preparation that will help you achieve your academic goal.
